The 20th Edition: Farewell PI Times

So welcome to the 20th edition of the PI Times (of this size and/or kind anyways). Looks like everyone had a busy holiday season because this is very late. XD Anyways sit back, relax and read. Hopefully this will keep you entertained for at least 30 seconds of your internet surfing or I'll give you your money back. Though actually you don't have to pay for this but you CAN! I'll take it for you. =D

More serious note and more importantly this will be our last PI Times edition. With much of the staff being too busy and losing interest in the PI Times this must come to an end. It's ran a good 20 times and we've seen it through many changes and many wonderful staff members. I want to say thank you to them for all their hard work and ideas on the PI Times. You guys rock! On a side note I may do a mini PI Times just for kicks. If anyone wants to help with that let me know. ^-^

Insight upon members of the Pink Imoen Community

Get to know Ultimarad!

You've been a member here at PI for nearly two years now, what has been your most memorable experience?
That would have to be mixing in with all the other members, and getting involved in all the craziness I haven't seen on any other forum.

What got you into Star Wars?
2 things. The expanded universe (everything that isn't the original 6 films). It brings so much depth to Star Wars, and makes the whole galaxy so much bigger. That and I love sci-fi. Love

Do you have any other obsessions besides Star Wars?
Usually anything produced by Nintendo, Square-Enix and Maxis. In short, video games.

If you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you choose to go?
There are 2 places actually. I would like to go visit Linkmax and Sparrowhawk, my 2 bestest friends. The other place is Tokyo, Japan, gaming is actually an accepted pastime over there, how cool is that?

What is your favorite gaming system, and why is it your favorite?
Definitely the Wii, it has the best games, the best controllers, is the cheapest of this generations consoles by far and was made by the best and most experienced of all video game companies (whom I might add invented video gaming), Nintendo.

If you could have any superpower you wanted, what would it be?
Confused That's a tough one... *thinks of X-men* I would like to be a jedi. Dance

What is your favorite book or books and why?
I don't read much. I think I've read about 3 1/5 books in my life so far. Tongue Of those 3, It would have to be the Halo: The Fall of Reach.

How did you get into graphics, and how long have you been working with graphics?
I think it's been about 3 years now, I enjoyed learning how to use Photoshop in college. Though when we started using the (then) Macromedia products we used Fireworks instead and my choice in graphic program hasn't changed since, which is fine since I'm not into doing such advanced effects anyway, I'm just simple. Tongue

What do you like to do for fun?
I'd be surprised if you haven't figured that out by now. (I don't know if there are people that just skip to the last question when reading these) But I'll say anyway. Playing video games. Dance

So anyways PI hasn't gotten many new members. Only notable one I can think of is Scott. Though we have had some old members return and so them I say welcome and never leave again or I keel you. Sorry about that. *cough*

Advice
Questions & Answers

With special guest evil-eh Sarah!

What do I do if I fall into a big black hole with no way of getting out and no way to communicate anyone? =O
-Wertie
Well Warty there is a simple answer to this, you don’t do anything! There is a 1/100000 chance that someone will assume that your falling to your death in a black hole but if not that means less blood I have ta dance on! =D

Would eating 3 widgety grubs and one honey ant have really ruined my complexion? If so, why would Justin have offered it to us?! That brute... =O
-Fraloopie
Because he didn’t, I did! Yesh ma evil-eh plans have worked, yer all going to die in seven days while eating doggy food >=D

I erm think I’m in love with my laptop, the other day I said to someone it was really hot, do I need help? – Anonymous No there’s nothing wrong with you, it’s completely natural-eh. This is why you divorced Max and Fra face twice, err I mean whoever your ex lovers were person-who-is-not-Kristin; Laptops make better lovers than men! They don’t make mess, they do what you want them to do most of the time, they never talk back at you and most importantly you can switch them off whenever you are fed up with them. In fact I married my computer and I never regretted it, the only thing I regret was not ditching Nick for it sooner!

Gossip
Secrets and Rumours revealed...

It has come to the attention of our own PI Times Gossip Action Squad (PITGAS) that our own co-admin and PIT Editor, Kristin, is in fact pregnant. Yes, you heard it hear first. Kristin is very much a preggers!
Talking with her doctor and experts in this area of medicine say that Kristin most likely was impregnated when she raped Jimmy, the infamous laptop. Insiders tell us that they have seem to have been meeting recently. After a particularly difficult match of snowball fights (with Jimmy short circuiting), they two went inside to do a little more than "getting some hot chocolate" as they reported. Neighbors called the police after the animal noises got too loud. When asked about the alleged pregnancy, Kristin replied, "I cannot comment on the case while things are developing." Of course, this is an obvious indication that the thing developing is the mutant baby/laptop. PITGAS asked Dr. Schwitzpitzenalbuitszenheimergoft about what the baby would look like. "By my best guess," he said, "it will be a PDA - perhaps an iPhone."

Until next time, stay sharp!

PI Saturday Chats
Pink Imoen Chat Events

No, I've not performed some amazing escape from another desert island, nor am I in hiding from evil zomguins. So, uninterestingly this month I'm typing the PI chat article on a train, while traveling backwards which by itself is a mean feat. But I don't travel and multi-task so well. Choo choo goes the train. I must point out that, although I haven't been able to attend many of the chats like I used to, I do still drop in from time to time when my busy schedule allows me too, something I know that many members also feel the strain of.

One thing I would like to point out is the host of colours that each member uses that make the evil msn box look as pretty as a rainbow. As far as I know though no member has come across that pot of gold that supposedly lives at the end of the rainbow. Neither have we encountered any of those pesky little leprechauns that also frequent there. Although if anyone is missing any Lucky Charms then perhaps there is no pot of gold at the end of the rainbow and they have had to settle for the Lucky Charms instead. All I can say is Hey Leprechaun, lemme have some of ye lucky charms.

Another more serious topic that was talked about at the PI Chat was J.K Rowling's announcement concerning the sexuality of Dumbledore. Although not a complete suprise to some members, they did wonder why she brought it up now and not earlier. Topics sparked by this involved various other characters, including Tinky Winky of the Teletubbies. One of my PI Spies informs me that Tinky Winky is responsible for a spat of handbag thefts in the PI area.

Participants of the chat have also altered several mean lessons and rules to fit in more with the 'friendly' image the forum projects. Here is a brief summary of a few of them:

Lesson #1: Don't be afraid to be mean.
Lesson #2: Thou shalt steal for it's mean.
Lesson #3: Don't get caught.
Lesson #4: Thou shalt not be afraid to inflict pain on others. oh and the more innocent the victim, the better =P
Rule #5: Improvisation is key: use anything you can
Lesson #6: No stealing from Nemo.
Lesson #7: Because Nemo is nice to you.
Lesson #7: Steal from Nemo at all times.
Rule #6 : Never question Laura's math skillz
Rule #8 : Neva question language skillz eitha!

Dubbed Lessules, these are the offical Mean Lessons and Rules. They must be followed at all times if not the rubber-axe weilding Alf shall hunt you down. And for my final act *steals Nemo's plant* Ha ha!

It seems as though the Phorum Goddess Sarah has acheived her goal and disbanded the PI Chats. Word on the street has it that for the last couple of weeks there has been no chats. Although from the gossip, it's been down the the heavy scehdules of the members, there are several rumours in circulation blaming Sarah and her bandits for the loss of the iconic chats. This extract came from one of my sources who was clearly suffering from excess amounts of Green M&M's, a food source that Sarah has been known to use: "My pure hawtness was like soo hawt it caused everyone besides Kristin to like stop showing up on msn because I'm like soo hawt. So basically the chats just involved Kristin and me talking about how sexy me and laptops are. Yeeaah." There is an Underground group of rogues in formation hoping to take Sarah and her bandits down and reinstate the chats. More information shall follow.

And lastly..almost. Starbucks rocks, I lost my socks, what a shock..

Spotlight
A closer look at an interesting forum or website

This edition's Spotlight features the wonderful drawing boards we have at PI. You can find both of them HERE. It's a blast to draw and chat in them with your closest PI buddies (because as you know, the drawing boards are equipped a nifty forcefield that keeps out foreigners). The occupancy limit is five people, as more would be crazy and possibly cause deadly computer crashes. That is why PI features two, that's right, two, drawing boards. That way if one is full, there is a whole other one that a savvy bunch of PI buddies can bundle up in. While drawing, you have a complete colour palette of 228 colours at your fingertips, perfect for anything from art to, well, art. . Half of the fun of the drawing boards is saving the pictures that you draw with your closest PI buddies (or most distant?) for later viewing pleasure. You also have the option of viewing everyone elses creations if you so wish to. A whole other aspect of the drawing boards is the games. The most popular game is Subwar which is lovingly called Subway. XD Subway has won the PI-er's choice awards for three consecutive years, it's definitely something you don't want to miss. So if you're bored, head on over to the PI drawing boards and turn a boring night into the best night of your lifetime while you chat, draw and play games. Tis über fun. =D

Additional Notes/Thank you
  • A big thank you to the PI Times staff.
  • Remember that your comments and suggestions are always welcome, feel free to PM any staff member at any time.
  • Thanks to everyone on PI for making it what it is today! Otherwise we wouldn't have been able do such a thing as the PI Times in the first place!

I've been wondering what happened to this!
I really liked this part:
Quote:
Lesson #6: No stealing from Nemo.
Lesson #7: Because Nemo is nice to you.
Lesson #7: Steal from Nemo at all times.

They always entertained me more than 30 seconds. I've never skipped a word, just don't seem to comment much. Tongue Honestly I do want everyone who put their times and efforts into this to know that it's all been much appreciated. It's quite the miracle how it did come together 20 times.

(the link in the Spotlight needs a closing [/url] tag)

It's funny that this was posted today, as I remember at some point in my dreams last night someone asked me what I thought of Matt's article on -something- and I sat there like 'how should I know, haven't read it now have I.' XD

So while I'm at it~

Thanks Alf. Smile

Haha, that is funny. Maybe more funny that I wrote that one after Kristin initially posted this, really last minute. XD

And ha yes Matt rewrote that article for me because I was tired and blunt as hell. Notice the other articles? =P

It doesn't matter. Alf isn't part of it either. It generally reforms quite a bit though so we'd glady have you. Smile

Yes you may definitely. =D

And about this suddenly being the last edition... I had toyed with the idea over a few months of letting this go. I finally decided it'd be best to end it. I should have ended it sooner as it become more work than fun for us on staff. So smaller and a revamping of ideas and staff would suit the Times better I believe.
